Me, Myself and AI shows the relationship between people and ‘grief-tech’ and the potential strain it puts on their grieving process. ‘Grief-tech’ involves using AI-powered technology to create chatbots or avatars that resemble deceased loved ones so that you “never have to say goodbye”. With binary code scattered all around with phrases that chatbots are programmed to say, like “I cherish you” or “I love you”, as well as the human figure with code implanted all over its body, is a way to remind people that no matter how real these avatars may seem, they are still artificial intelligence. 

 

The aim of this poster is to get people to question the ethicality of it all. Does it change the way we grieve? Does it prolong the grieving process? Will people develop unhealthy attachments to such chatbots? It is for the audience to consider the potential emotional impact surrounding such technology.
